Conner Purzycki’s 7/7/12 DLR Photo Report
I was a the Disneyland Resort few days ago and captured some newsworthy items including the new Disney Gallery exhibit. On to the photos…
When I walked by Luigi’s Flying Tires, the ride was down but cast members set up a little play area with the chains in front of the ride and had some of the balls from the attraction for kids to throw around. AWESOME!!!!
In Pacific Wharf Cafe, they now how Lighting McQueen bread to go with the Mater bread… Want.
Over in Disneyland, the new exhibit Crowing Achievements has opened in the Disney Gallery
The exhibit’s theme is Disney castles

Over in Innoventions, because you enter through the top floor now, the pre-show with Tom Morrow is turned off. So I wanted to see if he was still here.
Yup. Tom Morrow is still behind the curtain. It’s a real shame because he is a fantastic animatronic.

Crowning Acheivements
Creating Castles for Magical Kingdoms
Opening Saturday, June 30, 2012
As evidenced in Walt Disney’s classic feature films, every great story begins with a call to adventure, an invitation to embark on a momentous journey that can take you away from an old world of familiarity and thrust you into a new world of excitement. For most Disney Theme Parks, Castles have taken on the role of trumpeting that call. Walt built Sleeping Beauty Castle, here in Disneyland, to serve as an iconic source of inspiration, meant to enchant Guests into continuing onward, beyond the lively, small-town comfort of Main Street, U.S.A., toward wondrous gateways leading to imaginative new frontiers. Every other Disney Castle, from Florida to Hong Kong, successfully followed in their predecessor’s regal footsteps.
Just as Walt encouraged audiences to wish upon a star, the crowning achievements of the Disney Kingdoms have become towering symbols of a dream come true, compelling Guests around the world to follow their own dreams, both inside and outside the Parks. Now, The Disney Gallery lowers its drawbridges to this royal retrospective on the art of the Disney Castles so you can discover the inspiration and charm that helped bring these fantastic icons to life.

“A Grand Circle Tour of the Trains of Disney” Coming To The Disney Gallery
From the Art of Disney Website:
Coming November 12, 2011!
will present
All Aboard . . .
A Grand Circle Tour of the Trains of DisneyOn the very first episode of the Disneyland® television series, aired October 27, 1954, Walt Disney proclaimed that “I only hope that we never lose sight of one thing, that it was all started by a mouse.” However, an argument could be made that Disneyland® may have been started by a train. Walt’s fascination with trains began when he was a small boy growing up in Marceline, Missouri, in the early 1900s. At one time he actually worked on a railroad, selling fruit, drinks and newspapers to passengers when he was 15. His fascination with trains was rekindled in the 1940s, thanks to a number of Studio employees who were also railroad enthusiasts. This passion culminated in the construction of a 1/8-scale “live steamer” at his home in Holmby Hills. When Walt Disney started to plan Disneyland in the early 1950s, it was clear from the start that trains would play an important part in his creative vision – and trains have continued to be a focal point at Disney parks worldwide.
Now arriving at The Disney Gallery is a Disney railroad retrospective, so all aboard for All Aboard, showcasing the artwork and inspiration for Disney railroads, trains and train attractions throughout the years.
*******
We’ve Been Working On Walt’s Railroads
Fresh Perspectives on the Grand Circle TourWalt Disney was never alone in his enthusiasm for trains. In fact, his fascination with rolling stock was shared by a number of his studio employees, most notably Ward Kimball and Ollie Johnston, two of his “Nine Old Men” in animation, and Roger Broggie, a machinist who would later go on to become a vice president at WED Enterprises (now Walt Disney Imagineering). These kindred spirits encouraged Walt to pursue his passion. In the same way, Walt has inspired generations of people to develop an interest in trains, primarily through the ones found in Disney parks (which may be the first time some people have ever ridden on a railroad).
Among those inspired by Walt are 11 artists who have created personal, distinctive pieces of art that reflect their reverence for both Walt and his railroads. These works capture fond memories of travels on Disney’s trains and provide new and interesting takes on those experiences.

Conner Purzycki’s 8/14/11 Mini DLR Photo Report

New Disney Gallery Exhibit Featuring the Art of Mary Blair
From the Disney Parks Blog:
In 1964, Walt Disney introduced a concept for a new attraction at the New York World’s Fair that would celebrate children around the world. More than four decades later, “it’s a small world” continues to be one of the most beloved Disney Parks attractions of all time.
Even more than the famous song that you can’t seem to get out of your head, one thing that sticks with me from “it’s a small world” is the art that takes you on a journey around the world. Artist Mary Blair is among those who played an integral part in the development of this classic attraction. Her artwork remains to this day, an inspiration to our Disney artists and Disney fans. Her designs have captured the hearts of many and can be seen throughout each “it’s a small world” attraction at Disney Parks worldwide.
Until today, there has never been an opportunity to showcase the collection that inspired it all. But thanks to Kim Irvine, Dave Golbeck and team, The Disney Gallery will unveil a brand new exhibit May 13 to celebrate the art of Mary Blair and 45 years of this classic Disney attraction.
The other day I had the unique opportunity to get a quick peek of what you’ll see when the exhibit debuts. Here are a few of the images
I hope you enjoyed this inside look. As I find out more, I’ll be sure to let you know.

New Nautical Themed Exhibit Coming to The Disney Gallery
From the Disney Parks Blog:
Preparations continue for the arrival of the Disney Wonder to its new home in the Port of Los Angeles, as well as the inaugural voyage of the newest ship in Disney’s fleet, the Disney Dream in Port Canaveral, Florida. In the coming weeks, The Disney Gallery will pay tribute to all the ships on land and at sea, including some of those near and dear to our hearts at our very own Disney Parks.
This new exhibit, titled “Magic on the Water – The Art of The Happiest Fleet on Earth” will highlight nearly 60 years of nautical designs by Walt Disney Imagineers, from the smallest Storybook Land canal boat to the newest modern classic for the Disney Cruise Line, the Disney Dream.
From submarines and sailing ships to jungle launches and pirate bateau, water and watercraft have always played a key role in the design of Disney Parks. Through the years, the Disney maritime fleet has taken guests through uncharted jungles, under the polar ice caps, across lagoons to the Magic Kingdom and a World Showcase at Epcot, to a storybook land of enchanted fairytales and around the world on the happiest cruise to ever sail the seven seas.
“This particular exhibit is different from any other because it displays concept art from all our theme parks around the world. Tokyo DisneySea, Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Paris, all join Disneyland Resort art to form a display of various types of interesting watercraft, Disney style” says Walt Disney Imagineering Director, Concept and Show Design, Kim Irvine.
Also in store for you as we launch this new exhibit will be Disney Cruise Line-inspired original art, giclees and deluxe prints by notable Walt Disney Imagineers, Disney Design Group and Disney-inspired artists including Jeremy Fulton, Greg McCullough, Larry Nikolai, Noah, Randy Noble, George Scribner, Mark Seppala, SHAG, and Darren Wilson.
Special Tip: On Saturday, Jan. 29, Jody Daily, Jeremy Fulton, Kevin Kidney, Larry Nikolai, Noah and George Scribner will be on hand for a special appearance and signing from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at The Disney Gallery. For details visit www.ArtofDisneyParks.com.
So set sail with us on a retrospective voyage of memories – and prepare for an ocean of new ones.
